Amarillo legend Blackey Foster started Foster's House of Strings over 30 years ago. He was the owner of this store for many years, providing many musicians with quality instruments at affordable prices.

When Blackey ventured to be with Jesus, Mike and Maggie Scales-Peacock became the new owners, renaming the store to Scale's Strings & Things. They became so busy juggling Maggie's professional fiddle career with family and business, that it became quite stressful.

Greg and Carrie Johnston, two young Amarilloans, stepped on the scene with a new vision and plan for the store which reflects Blackey's passion for bluegrass music and honest business.
